Covid, stigma and corporate humiliation

 Hello again,

How is everybody holding on in these crazy days? I hope that you did not gave in desperation and media manipulations regarding this topic. It will pass people. Believe me it will pass and when the economy will hit rock bottom many will have other problems than this new virus.

In this article we will speak about a phenomenon that is taboo: people who got ill, or got ill inside big corporate companies, and mainly the humiliation that some of those people are being subjected to. Why this topic? Because somebody must hit the nail in the head. This is why.

Stigmatizing people has been one of the means of humanity to express fear, incompetence in understanding the realities of life and for many it's just a way of diverting the truth. On the other hand it just shows how low the level of social development is, together with everything that is related to that.

When everything started and the first deaths occured in  underdeveloped countries, it was a problem with the burial of the victims. Angry mobs of people went ballistic against the family and the people who were attending the funeral. All that is shear and psychotic fear of potential contamination with covid. To this is what humanity has come to: angry mobs chasing other people with stones and clubs.

On the other hand you have old and ancient habits, cast organized society and a level of poverty and illiteracy that will scare most of you. So when you take all the facts in consideration you might think that stigmatisation of  the people in such countries, is just ''normal'' because those people are being driven by basic needs: food, water, sleep and day to day job just to cover expenses for those basic needs. In such cases, even in the 21st century, due to the poverty, illiteracy this type of behavior cannot be condemned. Why? Well when you are being driven by basic needs, basic needs that in other countries are being taken for granted, your mind is no longer occupied with empathy or other things. You have to survive and survival does not cope with dignity, empathy, social tolerance. In the link bellow is what fear, survival through basic needs, illiteracy will cause:

But what if these things start happening on another level? What if these things are starting to appear in modern western societies where the level of social development is very high. Or is it?

For example in Canada people were afraid to come out and speak of being ill or having covid symptoms just out of fear and social stigma. In Canada! One may think: how? why? How this can be ? How such deviant social behavior can occur in a country like Canada? Well it's very simple: irrational fear can lead to psychotic behavior and hate in a matter of months.

Many people exposed so this social stress (media stress, news, fake news....) will crack. And unfortunately many have cracked and from that to hating or ''telling on your neighbor that he sneezed'' is just a finger snap. This shows also that fear, unfiltered information, can creep and root even in the minds of the people who, supposedly are on higher level of education and social development. Keep in mind: this is just an example of a society that poses as an example of a higher level of social development and where the stigma took root.An interesting link bellow about this:

And last but not least, after the incursion in social factors, we are getting back again into our beloved corporations. Well you all saw in the last months that corporations involved even more in the society with donations for the hospitals, supporting R&D developments of a treatment and making appeals for understanding and social responsibility. Everything is ok here but how are things in reality? How are things developing inside the nice painted buildings and behind the nice mottos? Well not that well in many places. But this is something that the ''white collars'' will fail or omit to address. Why?

Well in some cases, such behaviors are supported even from the top. When you as a manager allow the following situation to develop: meaning humiliating an employee in front of others, by putting her/him to apologize for the situation in which her/his  family member got covid-like symptoms. After testing the family member was diagnosed with covid, the employee announced in the office and the procedures were followed . Not knowing about having or not covid in the family, the employee had done nothing wrong. So the manager's attitude and colleagues attitude was not only wrong but also socially unacceptable for the level at which they pretend to be.

I always said that corporations are patching with the social behaviour of the people. In such a case, as described above we can say that those people in charge are just smoke sellers, make believers and people who do not know the facts and more important: they have no idea what to do! Many companies did the best to protect the employees but others refused to believe that he threat is real, made some ''make believe'' rules and in the end what was important was the profit graph! Profit without borders ! And if something happens: it's the employee's fault! ''We did our best to protect, inform'' and mainly to show others who was ''suspicious'' of covid and even make her/him apologies to the others, or at least suggest something like that.

In the end I just want to say this: the virus and all the diseases do not discriminate. Just because you have a certain colour, or you have a certain position in an organisation will not make you immune. Another link bellow on this subject.

Thank you and take care.
